ELITE-S, ALECS and ADMIRE represent Irish Cofunds at the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators– EARMA 2022

Cofunds foster excellence in researchers’ training, mobility and career development, spreading the best practices of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and form the next generation of research leaders. Ireland, through its several higher education institutions and research centres, has secured 17 cofunds to date in areas such as Arts & Humanities, ICT Standards, Software Engineering and Advanced Materials.

Sharing experiences between Cofund Project Managers (PMs) is at the core of the success of the Irish Cofunds through regular meetings organized by the Irish National Contact Point. This successful experience and knowledge exchange inspired 3 PMs in organizing and delivering a 15-min discussion table at the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators – EARMA 2022 in order to discuss, at a European level, two critical aspects of Cofund management: Dissemination of the calls and Evaluation of proposals, and Training and Development opportunities for fellows.

During this session, Ms. Mariana Clohessy (ALECS), Dr Edward Cassey (ADMIRE) and Mr. Paulo Soncini (ELITE-S) discussed these aspects with the European community of Research Managers (RMAs). The session was aimed at RMAs who are currently managing MSCA cofunds and those in the process of setting up their grants and it focused on the lessons learned, issues and their solutions, and the processes that the different PMs have encountered along the post award journey of their Grants.

The ADMIRE Cofund is co-funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 945168, and by a research grant from Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) under the grant number 12/RC/2278_P2.

The ALECS Cofund has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 754489.

The ELITE-S Fellowship Programme is co-funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Grant Agreement No. 801522, by Science Foundation Ireland and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the ADAPT Centre for Digital Content Technology Resource Centre grant number 13/RC/2106_P2
