Dublin, 04th January 2021
8 fellowships were offered in call 2 at the end of the evaluation and selection process and the last 2 fellows are joining the programme today.
Dr. Mansoor Ahmed and Dr. Muhammad Salman Pathan are the new additions to the programme and will be hosted in Maynooth University and University College Dublin, respectively. Check out their projects below.
Dr. Muhammad Salman Pathan ranked 6th submitted a project entitled “Analysing Onset of Critical Events Using a Machine-Learning Framework”. Dr. Pathan will be hosted in University College Dublin under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Soumyabrata Dev (School of Computer Science – UCD). His project proposes the use of Machine Learning techniques to predict future events based on historical data and will focus on three diverse applications: atmospheric study, optical communications, and medical analytics. It will use a computationally minimalistic model, such that it can reduce extra computational overhead in the IoT device, and also ensuring a high Quality of Service (QoS) score for the application. Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, ranked 7th with his project “Semantic Blockchain: Providing Provenance for GDPR Compliance” under the supervision of Prof. Markus Helfert in Maynooth University (MU), where Dr. Ahmed will be hosted. In this proposal, he presents a novel system that will ensure the provenance of data with the help of blockchain and semantic web technologies. The data recorded through his system will be immutable and will ensure complete traceability. He will also consider factors such as the cost of doing business, scalability, performance, and its interoperability with existing technologies through a hybrid system based on blockchain and semantic web technologies.
