Dr. Mohammed Al-Rawi, appointed as an ELITE-S fellow in call 1, participated this morning in the ADAPT Online Research Seminar, a series of seminars organized by the ADAPT Centre to disseminate research findings and stimulate collaboration within the Centre.
This morning’s presentation was entitled “How artificial intelligence is making the fashion industry smarter than ever” and it focused on fashion and how AI has become a cornerstone of it, and provide a glimpse of his recent work on: 1) interoperability of fashion data and 2) extraction of color from clothing.
Dr. Rawi focuses on analysing fashion data using color, shape, and textual attributes. His vision is to use AI to benefit both the customers and the fashion industry by focusing on fashion data standardisation, computer vision techniques and natural language processing; and ultimately, fashion recommender systems.
