Professor Gareth Jones is an ADAPT PI whose research encompasses an extensive portfolio of activities in Information Retrieval ranging from fundamental technologies to diverse areas of application.
He has published extensively with more than 400 papers covering many topics in multimedia and multilingual information retrieval, with application areas including search of life-logs, personal content, radio and TV broadcasts, public presentations and lectures, patents, content relating to cultural heritage, and medical archives. In addition he has been the recipient of a number of Best Paper Awards for his research, and was previously a Toshiba Fellow based in Japan.
