Dr. Mohammed Hasanuzzaman is a Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, Cork Institute of Technology, Cork, Ireland. He is also a member of the ADAPT Centre- Ireland’s global centre of excellence for digital content and media innovation, Ireland.

Mohammed earned his doctorate degree from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Ingénieurs de Caen – ENSICAEN and University of Caen Normandie, France. During his doctoral studies, he had introduced a temporal ontology namely TempoWordNet and released the developed resource publicly. Till date, the resource is downloaded more than 10,000 times all over the world.

His research interests and activities over the past 8 years have been in Natural Language Processing (NLP), especially Temporal Information Extraction, Machine Translation, Psycholinguistics, Social Media Analytics, Machine Learning and Bioinformatics. He has published papers in a range of highly respected journals and conferences including PLOSOne, IEEE Intelligent Systems and ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data, ACL, SIGIR, NAACL, COLING, EACL, CoNLL, Hypertext, ECAI, ESWC and IJCNLP.

Mohammed is recipient of several awards such as the French Ministry of Superior Education and Research fellowship, Erasmus+ staff mobility for teaching and training and Dublin City University’s INVENT Award for Engagement with Business/Industry for the year 2018. He was involved in many international conferences such as ACL, NAACL, COLING, EACL and organized workshops in leading conferences such as CIKM and TPDL. He is a member of the Association of Computational Linguistics and the Association of Computing Machinery.

Currently, he is supervising two PhD students from IIT Patna jointly with Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya, Prof. Asif Ekbal and Prof. Sriparna Saha. Till date, he has supervised more than 15 Master thesis from Dublin City University, Ireland and IIT, Patna, India.
