Dr Monica Ward is a leading researcher in the field of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). She is an internationally recognised expert in the area of CALL for Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTLs). She has developed CALL resources for Irish, Tojoloba’al (a language spoken in Chiapas, Mexico) and Nawat (an Endangered Language in El Salvador). Monica combines her knowledge of Software Engineering, programming and human languages in her research. She is interested in how ICT standards can facilitate and play a useful role in language documentation, preservation, maintenance and teaching.
